Todd K. Masuda Appointed to Serve on Human Rights Commission

Wednesday, March 06, 2019

Schneider Smeltz Spieth Bell LLP is proud to announce that Todd K. Masuda was appointed to serve on Cuyahoga County’s first Commission on Human Rights. Masuda is one of three initial Commissioners, and will serve a two-year term.

The Commission on Human Rights was established in accordance with the Cuyahoga County Anti-Discrimination Ordinance, which was enacted by County Council in September 2018. The Ordinance offers protections for equal access to employment, housing, and public accommodations, and includes protections for persons on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Commissioners will hear charges alleging discrimination, provide education to the community, and offer advice to council members and the County Executive. Cuyahoga County will now join 20 municipalities in Ohio in offering protections for people on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
