CDC Issued a New Moratorium on Residential Evictions

On August 3, 2021, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) issued a new 60-day moratorium on residential evictions for failure to make rent or housing payments, due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the United States as a result of the Delta variant. This Order is slightly narrower than the previous eviction moratorium (which expired on July 31, 2021), in that it applies only in U.S. counties experiencing “substantial” and “high” levels of community transmission levels of COVID-19, as defined by the CDC, as of August 3, 2021.  Read the full update
